Liturgy
The shadows grow longer with each step
The sun makes her grand entrance
Why do you look for the living among the dead?
Dazzling reflections in a pool of water
Circle joining circle joining circle
Why do you look for the living among the dead?
We look for you Jesus
The tomb is empty
Why do you look for the living among the dead?
He is not here but has risen.
A poetic death
A beautiful rebirth
May we find you among the living
We are here, and Christ has risen
Lord, we join in your holiness
Jesus, we see you in your rebirth
Spirit, we need you in our shadows
Amen

Scripture
We invite you to hear from the Gospel according to Luke 24:1-12
1 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb,
taking the spices that they had prepared. 2 They found the stone rolled
away from the tomb, 3 but when they went in they did not find the body. 4
While they were perplexed about this, suddenly two men in dazzling
clothes stood beside them.
5 The women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, but the
men said to them, โWhy do you look for the living among the dead? He is
not here but has risen. 6 Remember how he told you, while he was still in
Galilee, 7 that the Son of Man must be handed over to the hands of
sinners and be crucified and on the third day rise again.โ
8 Then they remembered his words, 9 and returning from the tomb they
told all this to the eleven and to all the rest. 10 Now it was Mary
Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women
with them who told this to the apostles.
11 But these words seemed to them an idle tale, and they did not believe
them. 12 But Peter got up and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he
saw the linen cloths by themselves; then he went home, amazed at what
had happened.
The Good News of the Lord.
Thanks be to God!
The grass withers and the flower fades,
but the Word of the Lord endures forever
Amen
Podcast & Reflection
- How might the places of loss in our lives be generating rebirth?
- What unexpected voices are inviting us to disrupt our lens of normalcy?
- How might we expand our imagination of hope?
Benediction
When the promise of resurrection seems like idle rumors
open us to hear hope from unexpected messengers
Stir our imagination
in how to learn from the wisdom of the marginalized
May curiosity propel us forward
stooping down to marvel at mystery
looking into the confounding
Glimpsing Empireโs violence undone by Godโs Love
Stir our imagination
in how to participate in beautiful possibility
The Nonviolent One has not gone away
but has gone ahead of us.
Stir our imagination
in how to courageously follow as couriers of love
Show us another way and another world is possible
As deathโs tale gives way to life and new beginnings
Stir our imagination
in how to scatter seeds of new life in a decomposing world
In the name of the One
who encompasses us in Loveโs neverending story
who speaks good news over friend and foe
and who animates our being with a new life narrative.
Amen.
