Liturgy, Reflection, Benediction 2023.2.19

Liturgy

Welcome, Vox family,
to this sacred space and time.
Let’s take a moment to pause
and welcome the Spirit.

If you entered with shame today, release it,
for God does not define you by shame.

If you entered with pain today,
acknowledge it, for God
cares about your pain.

If you entered with fear today,
welcome it, for God will see
you through your fears.

We invite the Spirit into our
vulnerable places this morning.

God’s love is so vast and so full,
there is plenty of room for
our shame, fear, and pain.

May this love heal us and unite us
together as one family.

In the name of God, Our Creator,
Christ, Our Redeemer,
And the Holy Spirit, Our Breath of Life.
Amen.

Scripture Reading

We invite you to hear from the book of 2 Peter 1:16-21

16 For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we had been eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 For he received honor and glory from God the Father when that voice was conveyed to him by the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, my Beloved, with whom I am well pleased.” 18 We ourselves heard this voice come from heaven, while we were with him on the holy mountain.

19 So we have the prophetic message more fully confirmed. You will do well to be attentive to this as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 20 First of all you must understand this, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, 21 because no prophecy ever came by human will, but men and women moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God!

The grass withers and the flower fades,

but the Word of the Lord endures forever. Amen.

Homily and Reflection

Homily Podcast – Trust In The Midst Of Uncertainty 2.19.2023

How might we invite a spirit of exploration and curiosity in the midst of uncertainty?

How can the uncertainty or mystery of our human condition embolden us in our faith and in our purpose?

What’s one thing this week you can invite spirit led revelation?

Benediction

Let us close with a benediction.

Go now with glory. Go with the glory of God,
having seen and heard Love.

Be mindful of the mask you wear,
be mindful of the freedom you need.

Be mindful of your Image, as you
are being transformed to know freedom
from one degree of glory to another.

Breathe in the Spirit, that the very breath
of your life would invite people
to claim that they too are set apart
for God’s Radical Love

Go now in the name
of Love,
of Freedom,
and of Joy,
amen.

Go in peace, and live the church.
See you throughout the week.

(mildly adaptation from Sarah Berson)

Go in peace and live the church.
May you find community and belonging.
See you throughout the week.
