Liturgy
Joy comes with the morning
The kids are down
The dishes are away
Our pets stand guard
(Or act like they do)
Joy comes with the morning
Our minds settle, or perhaps they begin their footmarch
Perhaps our tears begin
Perhaps we are a mother to our tears
As the Psalms say,
Weeping may tarry for the night,
But joy comes with the morning
Lord, here’s to the anger,
To the laughter,
To the nights we spend dancing and sleeping softly
Here’s to the nights we spend kneeling, calling out your name
We made it another day,
Another sunrise,
Another rain
Joy comes with the morning
Joy comes with the mourning
In the name of a Lord that weeps
A Christ that laughs
And a Spirit that takes pause
Amen.

Scripture
We invite you to hear from the book of 2 Samuel 6:14-19
14 David danced before the Lord with all his might; David was girded with
a linen ephod. 15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark
of the Lord with shouting and with the sound of the trumpet.
16 As the ark of the Lord came into the city of David, Michal daughter of
Saul looked out of the window and saw King David leaping and dancing
before the Lord, and she despised him in her heart.
17 They brought in the ark of the Lord and set it in its place, inside the
tent that David had pitched for it, and David offered burnt offerings and
offerings of well-being before the Lord. 18 When David had finished
offering the burnt offerings and the offerings of well-being, he blessed the
people in the name of the Lord of hosts 19 and distributed food among all
the people, the whole multitude of Israel, both men and women, to each
a cake of bread, a portion of meat, and a cake of raisins. Then all the
people went back to their homes.
The Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God!
The grass withers and the flower fades,
but the Word of the Lord endures forever. Amen.
Homily and Reflection
When you’re experiencing joy what do you sound like?
When your body feels joy, what do you notice?
When you want to share joy, what does it occur to you to do?

Benediction
Let us close with a benediction
Lord may we take comfort in knowing the Body is Divine
May we find rest in our tears,
Beauty in our laughter
Solace in the times our mind races and takes pause
May we realize this is all interwoven on the thread of joy
In the name of a God of Julys, and Augusts, and Septembers
A Christ of the wild
And a Spirit of pure, unfettered joy
Amen.
