Liturgy, Reflection & Benediction 2024.02.11

Liturgy

Heavenly Parent, Lord Above,
We come to you this morning to be transformed.
Our minds are weary,
Our backs so burdened,
We wait for you in the wilderness of a world undone.
We hold still for we have faith in your mystery.
We pray you come close
so that we may find your way.

Spirit of the Redeemer, Christ our King,
You call us to a mountaintop of mercy
That we would never dream of reaching,
If you had not loved us first.
Side by side, we sing out, to call your Grace into our lives.
We want to love one another as you love us.

Holy Spirit, drumbeat of the Heavenly Realm,
You move in ways we cannot fathom.
Open our minds to the potential you see in us,
Ready our hearts for your cause.
We rise from this place to the rhythm of your purpose.
Wherever your song may call us, we will follow the drum.
All of this in the name of the God the Creator,
Jesus Christ, the Chosen One,
and the Holy Spirit, Keeper of all Mysteries,
Amen.

Scripture Reading

We invite you to hear from the gospel according to Mark 9:2-8

2 Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and John and led
them up a high mountain apart, by themselves. And he was transfigured
before them, 3 and his clothes became dazzling bright, such as no one on
earth could brighten them. 4 And there appeared to them Elijah with
Moses, who were talking with Jesus. 5 Then Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it
is good for us to be here; let us set up three tents: one for you, one for
Moses, and one for Elijah.” 6 He did not know what to say, for they were
terrified. 7 Then a cloud overshadowed them, and from the cloud there
came a voice, “This is my Son, the Beloved; listen to him!” 8 Suddenly
when they looked around, they saw no one with them any more, but only
Jesus.

The Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God!
The grass withers and the flower fades,
but the Word of the Lord endures forever. Amen.

Podcast: What is Your Voice

Is there a piece of art that inspires you to find your voice?

How have awe and wonder inspired your own creativity?

How does creativity fuel our inner healing and outer work of peacemaking and justice bringing?

Benediction

Go now from this place, looking at those
around you as reminders of your own salvation.
In faithfulness, treat everyone you meet with
kindness, as though they had something to teach
you about yourself, because they probably do.
Welcome these lessons, as best you can,
with open hands, receptive to the work
God is continually doing in your heart.
Explore the wilderness and know you will
never be lost; you are tethered irrevocably
to the One who loves you, gave you breath,
and watches over you at every moment.
So go this week, praising
the name of God who is faithful,
of Jesus who is kind,
and of the Holy Spirit who is guiding us.
Amen
