Liturgy Reflection & Benediction 07.10.11

Liturgy

Every creature, every plant, every rock and grain of sand
proclaims the glory of its Creator, worshiping through color,
shape, scent and form.

Creator God, may we join with the whole of your creation
in praising you, our Maker through the melody
and the service of our lives.

in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Congregational Prayer

In prayer, let us confess to God as a community.

Almighty and most merciful Father,
we have erred and strayed
from your ways like lost sheep.
O God, shepherd to all who go astray, have mercy upon us.

We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts,
we have offended against your holy laws.
O God, sovereign ruler of justice, have mercy upon us.

We have left undone the teachings of your Son,
and we have acted on things which we ought not to have done.
O Holy Spirit, God’s advocate and guide, speak to us and have mercy upon us.

Have mercy upon us,
spare those who confess their faults,
restore those who are humble
according to your promises declared unto mankind in Christ Jesus, our Lord;

and grant, O Father, for his sake,
that we may hereafter live a godly,
righteous and sober life,
to the glory of your holy name.
Amen.

Reflection

What are some of the names you have been given and you’re trying to live out?
How do you view and engage the script that shapes your life?

Benediction

Christ has no body now on earth but ours,
no hands, but ours, no feet but ours.
We are the eyes through which
Christ’s compassion cares for the people of the world;

We are the feet with which Christ
is to go about doing good;
we are the hands through which
Christ now brings a blessing.

We promise this day to keep awake,
to live each moment to the full,
to look with eyes of compassion,
and to act with kindness.

In the name of the Father,
the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Go in peace and live the church.
See you throughout the week.
