Liturgy
Loving God, we are here to meet with
you and we are here to meet each other.
You have made us for connection, not for
self-control, self-determination, or self-fulfillment.
Thank you, God, for time to be together.
We come in on our own or with our closest
ones, and we enter in to something larger.
Bind us to each other. Not just the one beside us,
but the ones across the aisle, in the front and the
back, and those not yet here.
We invite your Spirit to fill us as a
community, to empower us to do all
the work you have given us to do.
We see in each person here the gifts given by you,
the ways to serve and to be and do that come
together to make something full and rich and true.
I
n the name of the triune God —
the Creator, Essence, and Sustainer
of all community.
Amen.

Scripture
We invite you to hear from the book of 1 Peter 2:4-5, & 9
4 Come to Him, a living stone, though rejected by mortals yet chosen and precious in God’s sight, and 5 like living stones let yourselves be built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ… 9 But you are a chosen priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, in order that you may proclaim the excellence of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
The Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God!
The grass withers and the flower fades,
but the Word of the Lord endures forever. Amen.
Homily and Reflection
Homily Podcast – Rethinking Priesthood 10.01.2023
How have you been called out of darkness into marvelous light?
How has God wired you to be part of creating spiritual space for others?
How does interdependence change the way you view priesthood?
Benediction
Go now, and live as one body in Christ.
Be at peace, and care for one another;
Suffer with one another, and rejoice with one another.
Give your attention to the voice of God, and proclaim
the good news of freedom to all.
And may God delight your heart and sharpen your vision;
May Christ Jesus keep you, thought and word, in his grace;
And may the Holy Spirit be the fountain that sustains and
binds you together as one.
This we pray, in the name
of the triune God,
Holy in One,
Amen.
