Liturgy, Reflection and Benediction 2022.01.16

Liturgy

Heavenly Father,
brothers and sisters in Christ,
why are we here today?

We seek community,
we seek forgiveness,
we seek understanding,
we seek wholeness.

Let us work together in this space to be the
body of Christ, united in mind and in heart
to create a sanctuary for the Holy Spirit
and for our souls that long for rest.

May we come together this morning to bear
witness to the love that knows no bounds
and seeks to lead us to green pastures
and still waters, where we can be renewed.

We pray this together,
in the name of the Father,
of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit,
Amen.

Scripture Reading

We invite you to hear from the reading of 1 Corinthians 12:4-11.

4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone.

7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 8 To one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom,
and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit,

9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the discernment of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

11 All these are activated by one and the same Spirit, who allots to each one individually just as the Spirit chooses.

The Good News of the Lord.
Thanks be to God!

The grass withers and the flower fades,
but the Word of the Lord endures forever. Amen.

Homily and Reflection

Homily Podcast – The Unifying Gifts of the Spirit 01.16.2022

How would a lens of revelation impact how you see the gifts in others?

What is an outlet where your gifts might contribute to the common good?

Even in this challenging season, what might collective participation look like for you?

Benediction

Go now, and live as one body in Christ.
Be at peace, and care for one another;

Suffer with one another, and rejoice with one another.
Give your attention to the voice of God, and proclaim
the good news of freedom to all.

And may God delight your heart and sharpen your vision;
May Christ Jesus keep you, thought and word, in his grace;
And may the Holy Spirit be the fountain that sustains and
binds you together as one.

This we pray, in the name
of the triune God,
Holy in One,
Amen.

(Sam Lee)

Go in peace, and live the church.
May you find belonging and community this week.
