Liturgy Reflection & Benediction 03.13.2016

Liturgy

We gather today,
O Lord of Life, seeking fullness.
Not the fullness our world offers,
but fullness that comes from you.

We spend so much of our lives on
things that do not count. Things
that promise much and give little.

Help us now…today, to find fulfillment
in your love, may we discover all you
have to give, and seek you while we
yet have the gift of days.

Lift us O God, to a higher plane of living,
as we lift our hearts, our minds and our
souls into your holy presence.

We ask these things in the name
of the Father,
of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Community Confession

Lord God, Creator of all, you speak to
us, but we often shut out your voice.
Lord, forgive us and teach us.

Your Spirit convicts us of our sin and our
brokenness, but we drown you out with
the noise of this world.
Lord, forgive us for our apathy.

We would rather hear our own name praised
among men rather than the name of Jesus.
Lord, forgive us for our pride.

We prefer telling people about our
petty accomplishments rather than
speaking of your righteousness.
Lord, forgive us for our pride.

Give us a thirst for your life-giving word. Give
us joy in speaking your truth into our own lives.

May we be faithful stewards,
and humbly seek your guidance.

We pray in the name
of the Father,
of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Sermon and Reflection

Sermon Podcast 3.21.16 -Palm Sunday

What are the deaths that we need to name in our lives?
What would it mean for us to create space to grieve well individually and as a community?
What word comes to mind when you consider dying well?

Benediction

Let us close with a benediction.

Go now in the righteousness of faith
and live by God’s just demands.

Let nothing claim your devotion above
the Lord, and count nothing of value
above knowing Christ.

Press on towards the ultimate goal,
of communion with him.

And may God’s perfect word revive your
soul; may Christ Jesus be your savior
and your rock; and may the Holy Spirit
strengthen you to press ever onward.

We go forth this week,
serving in the name
of the Father,
of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit,
Amen.

Go in peace and live the church.
See you throughout the week.
