Liturgy Reflection & Benediction 08.16.2015

We are called to be people of
faith in the midst of the world,
and so we mix our worship and
our work, our faith and our life.

We gather here as people who live
in the world and yet, we gather as
people who have been called to see
our world from a different viewpoint.

God calls us together, God calls us to be
part of a community. God challenges us
to consider questions of priority as we
engage with our world.

In this time together, may God mature
our hearts, minds and eyes, allowing
us to see deeper, helping us to live in
the world while still offering a holistic
approach to the way things can be.

We ask and pray in the name
of the Father,
of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit.

Community Confession

Lord God, it is hard to think that we
are mortal beings. We dream, make
plans, and talk about what we’ll do
in the near future.

We don’t always think about what you want.
Instead, we make choices that we think are
good for us, but we are only here because
of the grace you give us.

We confess that we forget our need
for you daily. We confess that at times,
our choices are far from your desires.

We confess that we do
not know what is best
for our lives. Holy God,
we are sorry for our sins.

Help us remember we live because of you.
Help us, through your life-giving Spirit, to
do what you want of us as your servants
of peace to the world.

We pray in the name
of the Father,
the Son,
and the Holy Spirit,

Sermon and Reflection

Sermon Podcast 8.16.15 – Reading Scripture

How do we approach a developmental way of reading Scripture?
How can we engage a mystical, trail-marker, or story framework for engage Scripture?
In what ways is God for us?

Go out, and make known
the mystery of the gospel.

Keep alert and pray at all times.
Draw strength from God’s power
and so, stand firm against all
that would divide you.

And may God arm you with
truth and righteousness; may
Christ Jesus give you words
of Spirit and life; and may the
Holy Spirit draw you near to
God’s presence and bless
you with honor and grace.

So that in return, you may
grow in truth, hope and grace
with all you meet this week.

Go forth in the name
of the Father,
of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit.

Go in peace and live the church.
See you throughout the week.
