Liturgy Reflection & Benediction 07.27.14

Liturgy

Every generation has found its home in you,
God our provider,
and we discover that every moment
spent in your holy presence lasts beyond all imaginable time.

You watch over us in the night,
protecting and leading,
encouraging us to trust and to take courage
in following your Son’s teachings.

Full of wisdom, Creator of grace,
you humbled yourself that we might learn
to love those who have been swept aside
by a world caught up in its own selfish affairs.

Witnesses to God’s mercy,
we are called to act in ways of love and of peace
to all we meet in this life.
Thank you for giving us your Son, Jesus, and for his life.
Continue to be the dwelling place
of our minds, our hearts and our souls.

We ask in the name of the Father,
of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Community Confession

In prayer, let us confess to God as a community.

In peace, we pray to you, Lord God.

For all people in their daily life and work;
For our families, friends, and neighbors and for those who are
alone.

For this community, the nation, and the world;
For all who work for justice, freedom, and peace.

For the just and proper use of your creation;
For the victims of hunger, fear, injustice, and oppression.

For all who are in danger, sorrow, or any kind of trouble;
For those who care for the sick, the friendless and
the needy.

For the peace and unity of the Church of God;
For all who proclaim the Gospel, and all who seek t
he Truth.

For the special needs and concerns of this community.
Hear us, Lord; for your mercy is great.

We thank you, Lord, for all the blessings of this life.
Yet, despite our efforts, we are sinful beings,
Prone to selfishness…self-preservation.

Have mercy upon us, merciful Father;
in your compassion forgive us of our sins,
known and unknown, things done and left undone.

Uphold us by your Spirit
that we may live and serve you in newness of life,
to the honor and glory of your name;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Reflection

What is the balance of giving in your relationships?
What is the balance of receiving in your relationships?

Benediction

Go in peace to be part of the new creation of human
community.

Go in love to take the hands of those who long for
peace and justice, and let God, the Creator,
speak through us in all formation.

Go, asking Jesus to bring all creation to his calling,
and to lead our community to the places where he is
needed.

Let the Holy Spirit be your constant companion throughout the
week to guide you and protect you.

We pray in the name of the Father,
of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Amen.

Go in peace and live the church.
See you throughout the week.
