Liturgy
Lord, in your resurrection we have seen your power.
In rising to Heaven, we have seen your majesty.
You have asked us to be patient and promised us
your peace, a Guide through the present darkness
to give us Light we cannot create or stir up on our own.
This Light is your faithfulness to us, your presence that
teaches us, reveals the truth that we are never alone,
that we are not forgotten, that there is something waiting for
us even in this life that can seem so meaningless at times
Lord, we thank you for your promises and the hope they bring.
We pray for patience and recognize
your goodness, praying in the name
of the Father,
the risen Son,
and the awaited Holy Spirit,
Amen.

Community Confession
Our God, we come in humility, confessing
who and what we are. We are often
unresponsive for we are afraid.
Lord, have mercy and give us courage.
When your Spirit speaks, we turn deaf ears,
for we fear what you might call us to do.
Lord, have mercy and prepare us to listen.
When your Spirit impresses on our lips, we close
our mouths, embarrassed to speak your Word.
Lord, have mercy and speak through us.
When the wind of your Spirit blows, we
close the windows of our hearts, afraid
the breeze will disrupt our ordered lives.
Lord, have mercy and quell our need for control.
When the fire of your Spirit touches
us, we try to quench its flame, afraid
of the new life it might bring.
Forgive us, Lord, and hear our prayer.
Help us turn to you and lean on your Spirit
to guide us through our days, to speak
and listen and to serve you fully.
We ask in the name
of the Father,
of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit.

Benediction
May the advocate, God’s Holy Spirit, sent in Christ’s
name, teach us and remind us of Christ’s words.
Do not let your hearts be troubled. Do not be
afraid, for Christ’s peace is with you. Christ’s
peace, that the world can not take away, and the
Spirit’s presence, will remain with you always.
May we acknowledge Christ’s presence
in all the human goodness we will see.
May we let the Spirit bring us home
rejoicing to our place of rest this night.
Let us leave, worshipping the name
of the loving Father,
of the Risen Son
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
