There’s Something About Mary

Lots of things happen in the summer. For the celestial aficionados, you have the summer solstice. For all Bryan Adams fans, may we never forget our first real six string from the five and dime that we bough during the Summer of 69. And for the slightly more morbid movie maniacs, we have the Summer of Sam. For Vox this summer, we have something a little bit different, whose inspiration is drawn from one of the more influential female characters in the bible. We have aptly entitled our summer ‘There’s Something About Mary’, where we plan on taking a page from Mary to rest and enjoy God and His goodness, grace and creation.

With this upcoming summer break, a few things are going to be taking a summer hiatus, namely Slashies, Midweek Prayer and Neighborhoods. Don’t worry, these three ballerific tentacles of Vox are not being severed from the body, but are being delicately tucked into a snooze cave and allowed to hibernate for a few months. Come Fall, these tentacles will emerge with more power and gusto than ever before.

In the mean time, please enjoy the city and all it has to offer. Perhaps you’ve been looking for a good time to see the bats. Well, I think Mary says ‘go for it, yo!!’ Maybe you’ve been waiting for the perfect time to go to Barton Springs. Guess what? Mary says ‘Jump in and let the underwater foliage tickle your tootsies.’ Whatever you decide to do this summer, remember to enjoy life, enjoy God’s creation, and enjoy this gift of rest.
