Liturgy
Loving God, we open ourselves to you,
trusting that this is how you made us:
you created us for joy-filled hearts and lives.
Show us the creative power of hope.
Teach us the peace that comes from justice.
Fill us with a joy that can not be contained, but must be shared.
Prepare our hearts to be transformed by you,
That we may walk in the light of Christ.
In the name of the Father,
of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit, we pray.
Amen.
Congregational Prayer
Let us pray to God as a community.
Lord God, Master of light and darkness,
send your Holy Spirit upon this Advent season.
We who have so much to do seek quiet spaces
to hear your voice each day.
We who are anxious over many things are thankful
to your advent among us.
We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy
of your kingdom.
We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your presence.
We are your people, walking in darkness, yet seeking the light.
To you, we say, “Come, Lord Jesus.”
We ask in the name of the Father,
of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Reflection
Do you believe that God can use you, even after you’ve failed?
Who are the outsiders in our community? And what are our responsibilities to them?
What sacrifices can you make for others gain?
Benediction
All you who have tasted and drank in the kindness of the Lord, love him.
The Lord keeps the upright.
Be of good cheer, and doubt not; for the Lord will strengthen your souls,
all who patiently wait for his advent.
The Lord reigns, let the people rejoice!
Go in peace and live the church.
See you throughout the week.
