As we near the end of a delightful month, there is no better way to eulogize the month of May than to pay homage to the swiss army knife of the culinary world we know fondly as Vinegar. Aptly given the nickname ‘Bo Jackson’, Vinegar can truly lay claim to the self given description “Jack of All Trades”. Whether you have stains, bland food, or cervical cancer, vinegar is your go to hero that will save the day with pizzazz and flair. And if ants, weeds and dirty public bathrooms are infesting your surroundings, Vinegar will be the kryptonite that sends those pests and fecal coliforms back to where they came. So whether you’re a fan of red, malt or apple cider, fruit, balsamic or rice wine, kombucha, distilled or cane, Vinegar has the skills to satisfy your every need.

[Skillshare Austin]
Skillshare Austin is one of the big highlight events Space12 hosts annually. It’s a 2-day event (6/5-6/6) that features free hands-on workshops on urban homesteading, transportation, arts and media, fun and games, parenting and childcare, horizontal organizing, cooking, health and self care and more! They are currently looking for a few more workshops. We would like our Vox community to attend and participate in this event. If you have a skill you like to share and teach, please contact Sam or sign up via the Skillshare website ASAP.
[Neighborhoods Pause Button]
Yup, the play/pause button for our Neighborhoods groups has been pressed and will stay this way for the month of June. While the show has been temporarily suspended, you’re free to get up and grab a snack from the fridge, use the bathroom, or go outside and enjoy the summer air. But never fear!! Come July, Neighborhoods will be resuming in and the show will continue for all to enjoy. So in the meantime, feel free to get together with people in your Neighborhoods group in the form of random weekly/daily/sporadic get togethers and enjoy one another’s company.

[Allies Working Against Displacement]
Community members in East Austin are coming together Sun afternoon from 4-7pm at Space12 to talk about issues facing the East Austin community. This workshop is geared specifically at working through issues of communication, outreach, sensitivity and political impact in East Austin. It’s a chance to hear and understand the context in which Vox is a part of here in East Austin.

[Lost and Found]
No, we’re not referring to the band whose song ‘Lions’ features the slinky as a percussion instrument. We’re referring to the bin of unclaimed goodies and homeless artifacts located next to the water cooler by the bar at Space12. If you think you may have left something at Space12, chances are it’s been put into the lost and found bin. At the end of each month, we plan on donating the contents of the lost and found bin, so please check to make sure you haven’t misplaced anything you don’t mind passing along to those who can use it.

[Reading Recommendations]
Recently, we finished our conversation through Paul’s letter to the Romans and discussed Paul’s reference to the Roman community as, “complete in knowledge and competent to instruct one another” (15:14). The word ‘complete‘ was often used in the ancient world as a sailing term, whenever the wind would fill (complete) the sail and propel the boat towards the open seas. In the same way, our hope is to become a community where our knowledge propels us to where God is moving in the world. As a tool to help us move in this direction, we compiled a list of suggested readings which can be found here.

You might be wondering what this acronym stands for. Well, allow me to spill the beans!! WYOMP stands for ‘Wash Your Own Mugs, Please ‘. One of the new perks of having our liturgy at Space12 is the plethora of mugs and drinking utensils at our disposal. Unfortunately, when the liturgy is over and the snacks are all consumed, the once clean cups are left dirty and all alone in the sink. If you could, after you have finished enjoying the delightful snacks and beverages, please lend a hand with washing the mugs and drinkware. That would be greatly appreciated.
