Ash Wednesday

Today marks the beginning of Lent, otherwise known as Ash Wednesday. Whether or not we come from faith traditions where we observe Ash Wednesday or Lent, this is a season where we can join others from around the globe to remember the death of Jesus Christ. Through practices such as penitence, sacrifice and reflection, we are reminded of how frail and finite life can be, which in turn emphasizes the beauty and grace of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

If you are looking for an Ash Wednesday liturgy to attend, our friends at Mosaic (5619 Airport Blvd) will be having an Ash Wednesday service tonight at 7pm. For more details and directions, go to their website.

And for those who are unable to attend, here is a link to some prayers, scripture texts and reflections created by members of Sojourn Community Church in Louisville for Ash Wednesday.

However you choose to observe Ash Wednesday and Lent, we hope that this will be a time where the blessings and mercy of Christ will show itself in new and fresh ways.
