Liturgy Reflection & Benediction 10.18.09

Liturgy
Looming clouds drape across the sky.
I walk in their shadows.
Their darkness, a weight upon my heart.
The sweet poison of bitterness, anger, malice, slander.
It begins to take hold. Consuming.
Until.
A whisper inside.
The first words of all creation.
Let there be Light.
The blinding, eternal fire of the Spirit bursts forth.
Piercing the black.
Banishing the darkness from my heart.
From my side.
You, O Lord, are the Light.
Our brilliant king.
Our radiant liberator.
When next the clouds descend.
I pray to remember that Your first act of creation,
Was the end of darkness.

Reflection
Is your faith apathetic? Why or why not?

Do you have purpose or a calling that is worth persevering for?

Who do you know that is experiencing suffering and hardship?

How can you walk with them or be with them?

Benediction
God our Father, as followers of Jesus,
we accept our commission from you to invest our lives in others.

We will live out your kingdom here
with humility, wisdom and courage,
asking your Son to be our model of grace in the world.

Give us eyes to see
the path of service you desire and
ears to hear the cry of the world’s needs.

May you be our Lord, our light, and guardian
in the work you call us to do.

We leave here to serve
in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Go in peace and live the church. See you throughout the week.
