June 8 to August 17, 2008
During the summer, the rhythm of the Lectionary focuses on these weeks called ordinary weeks. In the busyness of western life we need these weeks to enjoy life, enjoy God, enjoy community, and rest. And this rhythm of life is built into the church calendar. Even in Scripture, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, even Jesus for his first 30 years, just lived ordinary lives and was faithful in that. Then interspersed were these moments of epiphany and God doing something, but those were extraordinary rather than ordinary. So what does it look like to be normal, faithful human beings created in the image of God when things are ordinary rather than extraordinary? Join us as we start a dialogue about the rhythm of ordinary life.
