Liturgy, Reflection & Benediction 2024.02.18

Liturgy

My Lord and God, where are you?
I used to hear Your voice
And now I hear only stillness.
I used to hear Your melody
It would lift me,
I would whirl about spinning with arms open
But now I feel old and my ears ring
And my knees creak and pop
I lose my breath so quickly and my back aches.
I’m afraid my part in Your song is over.
My instrument is not needed anymore
Am I just a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal?
What am I without you? Is all I am dust?
Though the signs of destruction
and sorrow surround us,
We await Your faithful response.
We cling to hope. We remember joy.
We dwell on the dancing trees, on the warmth of the sun
On the comforting light of the moon in the night sky
As we dwell on this, we mutter to our spirit to quietly wait
To remember Your mercy, Your steadfast love, and Your
faithfulness.
We pray to God, our consistent beat,
Christ, our melody,
and the Holy Spirit, our harmony.
Amen

Scripture Reading

We invite you to hear from the book of Psalms 25:1-2, 5-7, 10

1 To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul. 2 O my God, in you I trust; do not let
me be put to shame; do not let my enemies exult over me.
5 Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my
salvation; for you I wait all day long. 6 Be mindful of your mercy, O Lord,
and of your steadfast love, for they have been from of old. 7 Do not
remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions; according to your
steadfast love remember me, for the sake of your goodness, O Lord!
10 All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those
who keep his covenant and his decrees.

The Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God!
The grass withers and the flower fades,
but the Word of the Lord endures forever.
Amen.

Podcast: A Movement of Faith

Is there something to which you give your time and effort, that hurts you?

What is something that would bring you more life, that could occupy that space instead?

Benediction

Our spirits rejoice
The season of sorrow will pass
Your Wisdom will shine forth and illuminate our path
Your guidance will remain steadfast
Rejuvenate our bodies
Energize our souls
Cleanse our ears so that we may tread
To Your rhythms once again
We turn our eyes to You
Instruct us in Your ways.
We remind ourselves of Your goodness
And mercy and grace
That lasts always and forever.
Let it be so.
We pray in the name of God, the Creator,
Christ, the savior,
And Holy Spirit, our Peace.
Amen
