Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. (1 Peter 4:10-11)
Vox will be engaging with the elderly residents of Heritage Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center located at 2806 Real Street near Space 12 and there are two ways to be involved.
First, we’re looking for pen pals. It is as simple as writing letters and getting to know one of residents you are paired with. The activity director explained that if residents cannot write a response letter, the staff will assist them with the writing.
And secondly, we will coordinate visits to the center. This will be set up so that two Voxites will “adopt” a resident that does not have family or friends that regularly visit them.
We will have an event for the residents probably in April or May and will provide more information about the event once the details have been decided, but we welcome any suggestions. If anyone else is interested in participating in any of these opportunities, we’ll have a planning meeting shortly and you can also send an email to the Local Missions team.
