[Vox News] Headache Awareness Week

Happy National Headache Awareness Week, everybody!! If you have ever had a headache in your life, Headache Awareness Week is for you!! Stay hydrated, and if necessary, take a nap and let your brain pain melt away.

[Sunday Liturgy]
Our Sunday Liturgy is at 11:00 AM at Space 12 (3121 East 12th Street). Join us as we continue our journey through the church calendar known fondly around the world as the Lectionary.

[Vox Potluck]
Immediately following this Sunday’s liturgy, we will be participating in a community potluck. It will be taking place at Space 12, so please stick around and join us as we celebrate Corpus Christi by sharing a meal together.

[Summer Hoods Kickoff]
This summer, we’ll be meeting by life stage (StuPros, Married, and Families). We’re having our kickoff this Saturday, June 13 @ Space12 from 10am – 1pm. We’re having someone share their thoughts on Spiritual Formation to wrap up our spring conversation and then we’ll be having a BBQ lunch right after. Everyone’s invited, so come on out! If you have any questions, please email us.

For more information, please see the facebook event.

[Liturgy Logistics at Space 12]
As we make our transition in becoming the newest tenants in Space 12, there are a few logistics we wanted to pass along.

1. Being a Good Neighbor
We want to encourage everyone to be mindful of the surrounding neighborhood. As tenants of this new space, we are surrounded by families and individuals who have called this section of East Austin home for dozens of years, if not generations. Let us be aware of our actions and try our best to be as good a neighbor as we can to the community.

2. Carpool/Biking Encouraged
One of the challenges we will be facing/addressing is enough parking for the Vox community. To help alleviate this, we encourage you all to try carpooling or biking to Space 12.

3. Space 12 Parking
We are anticipating a very full parking lot most Sunday mornings, and we will do our best to accommodate as may car as possible. There will be people on site to direct the parking traffic so as to best utilize the space.

When the Space 12 lot becomes full, there will also be off-site parking available on 13th St (between McKinley and Airport) and Oakgrove Ave (off of 12th).

For a map of all the available parking options during the Sunday Liturgy, it can be downloaded here.

[Free Movie Wednesdays]
There will be a weekly film showing hosted by KIPP, an organization that works with the AISD to empower underserved students here in the Austin community. Every Wednesday this summer starting at 7pm, there will be a free film playing at Space 12, so come enjoy a film if you can! Here’s the June lineup:

June 17: Bolt
June 24: The Hutto Project

For more information on the hosting organization, check out their website.

[Second Saturdays]
It’s that time of the month again!!! Join us this Saturday for our monthly installment of Second Saturdays where we spend an evening together playing games, watching engaging and entertaining films, eating delicious food and whittling an assortment of crafts. The festivities will begin at 7pm and will take place at Space 12 (3121 East 12th Street).

We would like to encourage you to invite your neighbors to join us in the fun. For more details, please see the Second Saturday facebook group.

[Community Initiated Events]
Here’s an event that’s been initiated by someone from the Vox community that we would like you to know about.

Lil Mozarts
Lil Mozarts is a music camp for kids ages 4-6 taking place at Space 12 from June 22-26. It will be a fun introduction to piano and basic musical concepts taught by Becca Lew and Rachel Lee. There will be two classes to choose from, 10:30-11:30 and 12:30-1:30. The registration fee is $15.00 and the tuition is $35.00. Scholarships are available, so send your requests, questions and registration to Becca Lew.

[BYOM – Bring Your Own Mug]
Because food is such a great catalyst for community, we plan to have delectable edibles and drinkables available every Sunday morning during our liturgies. Although it would be easy to buy disposable cups for the drinks, we want to be an environmentally conscious community and ask that everyone bring their own mug. This way, you’ll not only feel more at home, but we can all do our part in reducing unnecessary waste.

[Rides to Vox]
If you live on campus and are in need of a ride on Sunday morning to join us for Liturgy, please email us and we’ll hook you up. If you could send an email by 11pm on Friday, that would be greatly appreciated.
