Preparing for Kindergarten can be an emotionally challenging experience for parents around the country. Saying goodbye to your children as they’re shuffled in a cattle-like manner to their mental grooming pastures can be difficult, but perhaps we need to start looking on that bright side. Think of all the free time you’ll have when you allow this country’s finest educators do their thing with your child’s mind. As your children learn irreplaceable values such as sharing toys, relieving themselves in the bathroom instead of their pants, and the age old rule that glue sticks are not part of the food pyramid, you can rest safely at home and be lulled into a euphoric stupor with nothing but silence and the temptation of irresponsibility as your companions. So go ahead, play like there’s no tomorrow. Paint the town red with your brushes of freedom and take mid-day naps with a clear mind and a smile on your face. As the saying goes, when the cat’s away, the mice will play, and your kittens are safely tucked away on the brain train we call school and headed on a one way trip to academic indoctrination in order to successfully regurgitate knowledge.
[Vox Slashies]
If you have participated in the Vox Slashies, we hope it’s been a great experience getting to know others in the community who share similar interests and passions. For those who have no idea what a Slashie is, they’re our version of community based initiatives that are started and led by people from the community. For the remainder of the summer, the Slashies will be on hiatus, except a new one that will be for any teachers and educators at Vox. With the start of school around the corner, we wanted to begin a Slashie for the teachers and educators as a way to connect with one another. Summer neighborhoods have commenced, and let me tell you, it’s been a doozie!! We will be spending the summer neighborhoods session discussing prayer, so if you’re interested in joining one of the 3 neighborhoods we have going on, send us an email and we’ll hook you right up! The kindness and generosity that has come to define people from Vox apparently extends beyond caring for humans and institutions. Recently, a few kittens were rescued from what looked to be imminent death by a couple of kind hearted animal lovers from Vox. But this litter of kitties need homes, so if you’re sick of looking at yourself in the mirror and weeping profusely because you think you’re just not cute enough, perhaps a new kitty will be like robitussin to a nagging cough: just what the doctor ordered. For more details on how to get your mitts on these cute little kitty kats, check out the “tail” end of this message.

- Adopters must have them spayed as soon as they reach 3 lbs (we can give you references for free low-cost spay)

We are, however wanting to let you all know that one of the Vox houses on the East Side is available to anyone who may be interested in moving into the neighborhood. This house has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and lots of character.
