[Vox News] Back To School Week Edition

After months of mental atrophy by way of floating the river, traveling the globe and catching up on the latest fashion trends, it’s no wonder students all around the world arrive on campus with bright eyes and bushy tails, ready to ingest, digest and regurgitate the latest volumes of Calculus, Nietzsche and Martha Stewart. I mean, one can only handle so much talk about capri shorts and v-neck sweaters, right? Whether you’re starting school or trying to finish up where you left off last year, we wish you the best of luck. And remember, if knowledge could be measured by the pound, getting an equivalent to the Freshman Fifteen is a good thing. Eat up, young bucks!!

[Sunday Liturgy]
We all long to be a part of a family. Vox is a mini family trying to participate in the work of God’s global and historical family. Join us for family time over the next three Sundays as we talk through the details of our vision and mission in the city God has called us to. Our Sunday Liturgy is at 11:00 AM at Space 12 (3121 East 12th Street).

[Fall Neighborhoods]
Neighborhoods will be launching its new season next Sunday, September 6th, in the form of a BBQ. During this feast, we will have more information as well as signups for those who are interested or have questions. In the mean time, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email us.

[Ex:Change]
Last year, we held our first ever yard sale at Space12 called Ex:Change. We had lots of people from the neighborhood come out to buy things that were donated by the community as well as eat some great BBQ. This year, we plan on doing it again on August 29th, where all proceeds will be going towards a computer learning center at Space12. Please join us this Saturday for a great time of deal finding, BBQ eating, and people meeting. Any questions or last minute drops offs, please contact Stephen To or check out the details on facebook.

[Space12 Cleanup]
This Sunday, August 30th, we are planning a Space12 cleanup party. Why are we calling it a party, you may ask? Well, it’s because cleaning is off the HOOK!! If you’re interested in lending a hand, stick around after Vox and we’ll let you know how you can help. All you need to bring is a change of clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and a bucket of ‘LET’S GET IT ON!!’

[Austin Craft Mafia]
Next Saturday, September 5th, there will be a Clothing and Crafts Swap and Charity bake sale at Space12 from 12pm – 6pm. If this is your cup ‘o tea, then bring some clothes, crafting supplies and any sewing equipment you may need to ‘pimp that jacket’. There is a $5 suggested donation, and proceeds from this event will benefit Space12 as well as Austin Public Library Youth Services “Sew What?” program. More details can be found here. If you have any questions, feel free to email them.

[Getting Involved with Vox]
Have you always wanted to get more involved with Vox but haven’t known how? Do you have a passion or vision for something that Vox isn’t currently involved in? If you answered YES to either of these questions, then this is for you!! We would love to help you get more involved with what’s happening in the Vox community, as well as come along side your passion and vision to help it leave the dream realm and give it life. If this at all interests you, please let us know by sending us an email.

[Online Giving]
We’ve always wanted to exercise generosity by giving out as much as we can to those around us who are in need. If you would like to partner financially with Vox in this mission, we have several options for you.

1. Bill Pay through own bank.
2. EFT is now through manual application.
3. credit card through google checkout.
4. snail mail

[Global Fundraiser]
Recently, one of our own, Evan Wilson, gave an update on his plans to move to Central Asia as well as organized a fundraiser chock full of food, facts and fun. If you missed the festivities, it doesn’t mean you missed the boat to lend a hand. If you would like to get more information or wish to make a contribution, please send an email to Evan.

[ECC Feedback]
A few weeks ago, we had a Q&A session regarding the possibility of having Vox join the denomination called Evangelical Covenant Church. If you have any questions or feedback about Vox joining the ECC, we would love to hear from you. Feel free to email your questions or comments to us.

[Won’t You Be My Friend?]
Hi, my name is Vox Veniae. I’m 3 years old, very friendly, and housebroken. I would like to be friends with you!! I promise to not Zombie bite you, nor will I ask you to join my kingdom. I just want to be your friend because that will make me happy. To add me as your friend, click here.

[BYOM – Bring Your Own Mug]
Because food is such a great catalyst for community, we plan to have delectable edibles and drinkables available every Sunday morning during our liturgies. Although it would be easy to buy disposable cups for the drinks, we want to be an environmentally conscious community and ask that everyone bring their own mug. This way, you’ll not only feel more at home, but we can all do our part in reducing unnecessary waste.

[Rides to Vox]
If you live on campus and are in need of a ride on Sunday morning to join us for Liturgy, please email us and we’ll hook you up. If you could send an email by 11pm on Friday, that would be greatly appreciated.
