Liturgy Reflection & Benediction 09.13.09

Liturgy
God of our past and our present,
God of our future, yet to be and awaited,
God of our years, our days, and even of this moment:

Our lives are deeply rooted in miracles before us,
Our faith is richly set in courage running thick,
Our vocation is shaped by all those
who have risked for your purposes.

And now, in our remembering, we are made mindful
of our own place of calling, and
   our own time of obedience.

We pray for ourselves, our neighborhoods and our city,
   courage beyond our easier timidity,
   vision beyond our present tense,
restlessness beyond our ready settlements, and
yielding beyond our will to manage.

Give us appropriate yielding
that we may be like our remembered
ones in freedom and in love for you.
We pray in the name of Jesus
whom we remember until he comes again. Amen.

Reflection
What are some cards you are dealt?

What kind of symphony could we create by combining the cards we are dealt with our faith journey?

Faith and Action: Which one do you have more of in your life? Which one do you need to “invest in” to bring more balance?

What might the interplay of faith and action look like in your life this week?

What might a grace based initiative look like for Space12?

Benediction
Christ has no body now on earth but ours,
no hands but ours,
no feet but ours.
We are the eyes through which Christ’s compassion
cares for the people of the world;

we are the feet with which Christ is to go about doing good;
we are the hands through which Christ now
brings a blessing.
We promise this day to keep awake,
to live each moment to the full,
to look with eyes of compassion,
and to act with kindness.

In the name of the Father, the Son
and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Go with the peace of Christ and live the church.
See you throughout the week.
