Liturgy Reflection & Benediction 06.16.13

Liturgy

Come into this sacred space to worship our God
whose teaching is perfect;
whose directions are sure.

Come into this holy place to worship our God
whose standards are right;
whose commandment is clear;
whose judgements are true.

We come with holy fear –
to be given life, and made wise,
to have our hearts stirred and our eyes opened wide.
Come — let us worship our God.

Let the words of our mouths and the whispering of our hearts
be pleasing to you.

We pray this in the name of you, the Father,
you, the Son
and you, the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Community Confession

In prayer, let us confess to God as a community.

O God,
we live our lives as best we can—
dealing with difficult relationships and situations,
putting failures and disappointments behind us,

and moving into each new day
with as much energy, goodwill,
and optimism as we can muster.

But here, right now,
we seldom have the right answers,
we seldom seek your higher wisdom in our lives.
We just move ahead.

Forgive us for not asking for your insight.
Fill us with your wisdom,
that we may live lives
of goodness and peace.

We pray for mercy
in the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior,
who lives to intercede for us,
God in community, holy in One.
Amen.

Reflection

What are the areas that we lack trust in God’s ability to provide for us?
What do we take into our own hands and intentionally take away from God’s hands?

Benediction

The Lord, God almighty is our Father:
let us be thankful this week
for he loves us and tenderly cares for us.

The Lord, Jesus Christ is our Saviour:
may we serve him with grace and courage
for he has redeemed us and will defend us to the end.

The Lord, the Holy Spirit is among us:
may we rely and continually seek his presence
for he will lead us in God’s holy way.

To God almighty, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
be praise and glory today and for ever.
Amen.

Go in peace and live the church.
See you throughout the week.
