[Vox News] Spring Forward Like A Chicken

**DISCLAIMER: This week’s newsletter is really long. Kudos to you if you get through it in one sitting.***

[Sunday Liturgy]
Our Sunday Liturgy is at 11:00 AM at Mosaic (5619 Airport Blvd). Join us as we continue our series on Lent entitled Sacrifice.

[Spring Forward]
Tis the season to lose an hour of sleep. Before you start your nightly snooze, set your clocks forward 1 hour. This way, you’ll be cool like the rest of us.

[Community Care Focus Groups]
We are continuing our conversations on community care this Sunday and are still looking to get input and feedback about your experiences with receiving care at Vox. Although the discussion topic has remained the same, we are changing a few of the logistics, which are as follows:

Time – 1:00pm
Place – Mosaic
Food Provided – Fo Sho! (please bring a few dollars to help cover the costs)

If you have any questions or concerns, please send an email to Kevin. And in order to have enough food for everyone, please RSVP on the facebook event page.

[SXSW @ Space12]
Space12 will be hosting The Round as well as a few unofficial SXSW shows during the week of March 19-21. We are in need of volunteers to help during our unofficial SXSW weekend, namely for Southern Thursday (March 19) and The Round (March 20). So if either of those gigs sound good to you, please contact Sam to put your name in to lend a hand.

March 19 – Southern Thursday
Space12 will be hosting five bands featuring Choo Choo, Twin Tigers, Mean Creek, Pomegranates, and Mason Proper from 5-10pm on Thursday. We welcome everyone to come check out the shows. If you want to help out during the event, please contact Sam or check out the facebook event.

March 20 – The Round
A collaborative event featuring songwriters, slam poets, and visual artists all together on one stage. Space12 is producing the first annual Round in Austin featuring songwriters Laura Gibson, Kate Tucker as well as spoken word poets from Austin Slam, and our very own Karen Tsang and Melinda Carter as visual artists. Check out the facebook event and www.theround.org. If you want to help out during the event, please contact Sam.

March 21 – Engine Room
Welcoming jazz enthusiasts from all over to enjoy some of the best live classic jazz acts in town. Come out and swing out, or just sit back and tap your feet to the music. Engine Room will be the end cap to an exciting weekend of music and fun. Invite your friends who are coming out for SXSW! Check out the facebook event.

[Hurricane Ike Relief]
Vox is in the process of organizing a relief trip to Galveston in April to lend a hand with some Hurricane Ike relief work. If you’re interested, please contact Sam.

[Neighborhoods]
Our Neighborhood groups will be happening next week (the week of March 8). As a community, we’ll be talking through what Spiritual Formation means and what it might look like. If you have any questions, email us. For details of when and where we meet, check out the map.

[Hot Hot Heat]
CALLING ALL MARRIED AND ENGAGED COUPLES!!! You’re invited to the Vox sponsored marriage seminar on Saturday April 4th at Mosaic. Here’s a quick run down on the details:

“‘Til Death Do us Part: An intentional conversation for couples to grow in their journey together”.

Saturday April 4th at Mosaic from 12-7pm
$30/couple

Schedule:
12-5pm Seminar
5-7pm Mandatory hot date

For more details, please see the facebook event.

[Vox Baptism]
Baptism is the public celebration of participating in Christ’s death and resurrection. It connects us both to what God is doing in this world and with the global/historical community of friends following Christ. If you are interested in getting baptized or finding out more information, please contact Weylin.

[BYOM – Bring Your Own Mug]
Because food is such a great catalyst for community, we plan to have delectable edibles and drinkables available every Sunday morning during our liturgies. Although it would be easy to buy disposable cups for the drinks, we want to be an environmentally conscious community and ask that everyone bring their own mug. This way, you’ll not only feel more at home, but we can all do our part in reducing unnecessary waste.

[Rides to Vox]
If you live on campus and are in need of a ride on Sunday morning to join us for Liturgy, please email us and we’ll hook you up. If you could send an email by 11pm on Friday, that would be greatly appreciated.

CONGRATULATIONS!! You made it to the end!! Now go out and enjoy some hand clapping and jumping jacks you good reader you!! : )
