Liturgy Reflection & Benediction 12.11.2016

Liturgy

We earnestly beseech Thee, O Lover of mankind,
to bless all your people, the flocks of your fold.

Send down into our hearts the peace of heaven,
and grant us also the peace of this life.

Give life to the souls of all of us, and let
no deadly sin prevail against your people.

Deliver all who are in trouble,
for you are our God,

who is the haven of the shipwrecked,
who gives hope to the hopeless;
who gives help to the helpless.
whose love lights our way.

Have pity, pardon, and refreshment for
every soul, whether in affliction or error.

Preserve us in our pilgrimage through
this life of darkness, hurt, and danger.

We pray in the name
of the Father,
of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Community Confession

Lord God, Master of light and darkness,
send your Holy Spirit upon this Advent season.

We who have so much to do seek
quiet spaces to hear your voice each day.

We who are anxious over many things
are thankful for your advent among us.

We who are blessed in so many ways
long for the complete joy of your kingdom.
Hear our prayer and speak to our hearts, oh God.

We whose hearts are heavy
seek the joy of your presence.

We are your people, walking in
darkness, yet seeking the light.

To you, we say, “Come, Lord Jesus.”

We pray in the name
of the Father,
of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Sermon and Reflection

Sermon Podcast 12.04.16 – Advent III: Disappointment

How has disappointment impacted your life and faith?
What does your life look like being broke open versus broke apart?

Benediction

Rejoice in God always,
and again I say, rejoice.
For God has created you
with the capacity for joy.

May we find what makes us joyful,
And make that our gift to the world.

Trust in God’s good will for all of
creation and open yourself to
God’s gentle, transforming love.

May we welcome new possibilities in our lives.
May we offer ourselves to God’s goodness.
May we go forth in hope, and peace, and joy.

Let us press forward in our season of Advent,
longing and praying in the name
of the Father,
of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Go in peace and live the church.
See you throughout the week.
