Liturgy Reflection & Benediction 11.08.09

Liturgy
Father, we pray for courage as we begin this week,

for we understand there is work to be done,
burdens to be carried, feelings to be shared
and joys to be celebrated.

Grant us the courage to be silent
that we may hear your voice;
to persevere, that we may share in your victories;

and to remember, so that we may not forget
the way by which you have led us.

And when this week is done,
Oh Lord, may we have the courage

to see your guiding hand
in the friendships that have been made,
in the hurts that have been healed,
and in the strength that has been given

all in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, amen.

Reflection
How do we balance our view of ourselves as primal creatures created in the image of God?

Do you live in a spirit a fear or trust?

Are you willing to push through suffering to see what’s on the other side?

What might be some things in your life that God can do something good with?

Benediction
Go now, to serve Christ and follow him.
Let your old life fall like a grain of wheat into the earth
so that you may bear much fruit
as you allow God to reshape your heart
and live in obedience to the law written within you.

And may God centre you in truth and steady your spirit.
May Christ renew your joy and strengthen your will.

And may the Spirit teach you God’s hidden wisdom
and fill you with songs of rejoicing all the days of your life.

We go in peace to love and serve the Lord,
In the name of the Father, the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Go in peace and live the church. See you throughout the week.
