Liturgy Reflection & Benediction 11.07.10

Liturgy

Father of light,
in you is found no shadow of change
but only the fullness of life and limitless truth.

Open our hearts to the voice of your Word
and free us from the original darkness
that shadows our vision.

Restore our sight that we may look upon your Son
who calls us to repentance and a change of heart,

for he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

Congregational Prayer

In prayer, let us confess to God as a community.

Almighty God,
to you all hearts are open, all desires known,
and from you no secrets are hid.

You send us the Spirit of courage,
but we have been afraid.

You send us the Spirit of truth,
but we cling to our illusions and lies.

You send us the Spirit of healing,
but we cannot let go of our hurts.

Holy Spirit, forgive and come to us again:
shake our hearts,
set our souls on fire with your love:
Help us to rejoice in your power and live in the love of Christ Jesus, The Son.

We ask in the name of the Father,
the Son
and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Reflection

What areas of your heart require your attention?
What are some things that you need to de-clutter in order to make space for God?

Benediction

Rejoice in God always, and again I say, rejoice

For God has created you with the capacity for joy.

We will find what makes us joyful,

And make that our gift to the world.

Trust in God’s good will for all of creation

and open yourself to God’s gentle, transforming love.

We will welcome new possibilities in our lives.

We will offer ourselves to God’s goodness.

We will go forth in hope, and peace, and joy.

In the name of the Father,
of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit, we pray,
amen.

Go in peace and live the church.
See you throughout the week.
