Liturgy Reflection & Benediction 08.13.2017

Liturgy

Heavenly Father,
brothers and sisters in Christ,
why are we here today?

We seek community,
we seek forgiveness,
we seek understanding,
we seek wholeness.

Let us work together in this space to be the
body of Christ, united in mind and in heart
to create a sanctuary for the Holy Spirit
and for our souls that long for rest.

We come together this morning to bear witness
to the love that knows no bounds and seeks
to lead us to green pastures and still waters,
where we can be renewed.

We pray this together,
in the name of the Father,
of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit,
Amen.

Community Confession

Lord, in your mercy, you have given us the
greatest example of your love and compassion.

Forgive us, O Lord, for forgetting the
mercy you have shown us when we
have the opportunity to be merciful.

Father, out of your love for us we have
been given the new and right way to live.

Forgive us, O Lord, for being resistant
and slow to forgive others when you
have forgiven us far more.

Time and again, we have needed and asked
for your forgiveness, for what we have done,
and for what we have left undone.

Forgive us, Merciful Father,
and give us the grace and mercy
to show to others the patience you
have shown us, time and time again.

We pray this to you, our God,
in the name of the Father,
of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit,
Amen.

Sermon and Reflection

Sermon Podcast 08.13.17 – Mirrored Healing

Who has permission in our lives to help us see what we can’t see?
How does that feel to know that God’s love and forgiveness is limitless?

Benediction

These are the ordinary times in our life.
Not the mountaintop times or the burning bush times,
but the time of wandering and learning.

Not the times of celebration and miracles,
but of everyday life. Of living together
and working. And trying. And failing.
And getting up again to keep on moving.

But it is these times that teach us to rely on you
and on the community you have given us to lean on,
and live and work and try with. May we all have the
ability to see the beauty in this time.

May we have the vision to see each other.
The humility to cry out for help when we
need it, and the strength to hold each other
up as we walk through this life together.

We pray all of this
in the name of the Father,
of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Go in peace and live the church.
See you throughout the week.
