Liturgy Reflection & Benediction 01.08.2017

Liturgy

Almighty God,
Our lives are full of striving,
Our lives are full of haste.
We expect your blessings, Lord,
But we resist the cadence of your will.

Form and function, we are fallen,
Proud and panicked, we feel lost.
We ask for strength to bear our burdens,
Show us the enormity of your love.

Grant us peace and patience,
Grant us growth and gladness.
We ask, by your great power, God,
To see with eyes of faith and hope.

We pray in the name
Of the Father,
Of the Son,
And of the Holy Spirit,
Amen.

Community Confession

How sweet the sacred sign
Of mercy full and free,
Your dying love and quickening
power in mingled rays we see.

How rich the wondrous grace
Which brought salvation nigh,
Through Him who entered death’s
domain and rose no more to die.

With Him we die to sin,
The world and self disown;
And raised to share in glorious
life, we live to Him alone.

Jesus, our Risen Lord
We love this sacred sign;
Planted with Thee in death,
In life, we’re ever thine.

With Him we die to earth and sin.
His death alone has power to save; —
With Him we rise to life divine.
To wait our triumph o’er the grave.

Come, Gracious Spirit, from above;
Light and joy to us impart;
Speak with still-small voice of love,
And quiet our inmost hearts.

We pray in the name
Of the Father,
Of the Son,
And of the Holy Spirit,
amen.

Sermon and Reflection

Sermon Podcast 01.08.17 – Consent to Love

What are we currently experiencing that we might need to consent to?
What are some things we need to let go of?

Benediction

Rejoice! Jesus our Savior reigns!
Our God of truth and love;
He has purged our royal stains,
And calls from up above;
Lift up your heart,
Lift up your voice!
Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!

Rejoice, all you, in glorious hope!
Our Lord and Love shall come
And lift His faithful servants up
To their eternal home:
Lift up your heart,
Lift up your voice!
Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!

Let us rejoice in the name of the Father,
Let us hope in the name of the Son,
Let us love in the name of the Holy Spirit,
Amen.

(adapted from a hymn by Charles Wesley)

Go in peace and live the church.
See you throughout the week.
